Hello fellow growers! We will be saying, "Happy retirement!" to Todd Kline soon, so we will be calling for prospective candidates to represent the central Canadian region for the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth. This person should be someone who can meet on a Sunday Zoom call, be a team player, a good sportsman, someone who has integrity, a good attitude, and believes in tactful communication. The committee is seeking an individual who has a heart for giving back to the giant growing community, and wants to share their gifts to assist the GPC board in recognizing growers, putting on a convention, assisting weighoff sites, and growing the GPC. Please email Cindy Tobeck, President [email protected] to throw your hat into the ring, or with questions by May 1.

So sorry to hear Todd is stepping down after the many years he dedicated to the GPC and involvement with pumpkin growers around the World. Also of course a great person and grower who represented Canadian growers/sites. Watch out if he has favorable growing conditions and more time now with giant pumpkins and squash first and foremost! He's long overdue! All the best Todd, the DILL FAMILY.

And best of luck GPC with a new Central Canada rep.

Thank you Todd for all of your time and hard work given to all growers. I know that I am missing data from the 1993 to 2005 but this is what I do have. Your life time Master Gardener point total is 2415.43 which ranks in second place. You have 276 GPC entries 125 of which were 1st place entries. Your accomplishments go on and on. There is not enough space on this thread to note all of them. You will be missed! It will be very hard to find someone to replace you on the GPC committee. Best of luck and again Thank you for all you have given to all of us.

Hi Danny I am still working on GPC history. Especially the early years 1993. I believe that you are the only one who may have the information that I am looking for.

Hey Jack well said about Todd and thank you very much! Those stats are incredible and shows how much time Todd has devoted to growing and showing over the many years. However compiling all these stats together on a grower is way beyond me and most others as well. What you are doing is another whole big chapter in the history of the GPC and so forth which everyone should be thankful for. Danny

I have lots of records/stats from back in the day since International competition began. Basically 3 eras. First to compare results together to determine over all winners was when Windsor-Half Moon Bay did it over a live telephone hook up about 1979 or 1980 ( I'll have to check) to 1982.

Then WPC began in 1983 and went 10 years plus with many more sites joining.

Finally the GPC in 1993 and here we are still today.

Also still had other big independent shows going on during those early years such as Circleville, UK, etc.

I sent you an email few days ago? Try sending one to me: [email protected]. Then we can proceed from there any older stats/results missing for your records.

Just curious who's #1 all time Master Gardener to date?

The all time Master Gardener is currently John Harnica with 2533.59, next is Todd with 2415.43, next is Fred Ansems with 2341.62, next is Doug Court with 2138.24, fifth place is John Butler with 1826.86.

I will take a look in the junk mail file. I have been lookin every day for a week now. Thank you for getting back to me.

Hi Danny I have data from over 13,000 growers who have entered GPC events. Some from the 90's but almost all entries from 2005 to present thanks to Ken @ Big Pumpkins. All a person has to do is enter their name and their results are displayed for every GPC category, the number of entries, their largest in each category the total weight for each category and the over all combined weight for all categories to mention only a few results that are displayed. The results are shown in English or Metric. The sheet has over 4 million data points. I know there are errors but it's a start

Thanks Jack, that is an amazing collection of stats and data, I had no idea how far and much you went with stats? Sure know now lol. Those top 5 MG sure have been around for awhile very well done. You have no idea until seeing your stats, it sure puts things into perspective. Not surprised one bit with these top 5, John Harnica is a great person, grower and friend. And watch out for #3 Ansems to keep rising...lot of miles left in his tank yet.

13,000 growers just GPC alone! Yes I suppose there are thousands of growers around the World today. Sure have come a long way since the early days.
