So 3lbs borax for roughly 2500 sq ft? I looked at your Langley calc for patch size. I didn't do a soil test and I'm roughly at 1000 sq ft yet I got the same box of borax and it sits there taunting me into this frenzy of "toxic" fear so I don't know what the heck to do and it will probably remain unopened until next year :-)

Since borax is really easy to overdo, I wouldn't apply any to your soil. I would find a balanced fertilizer that has boron in it and just feed that regularly. Next year you can do a soil test and apply an exact amount. If you're going to grow in the same spot for multiple years check out Ulexite. It contains boron but takes a while to break down.

How bout Biomin cal-boro as another option? Thank you for educating me on TV rock, I found it most fascinating

That is a great option to add to some other NPK base fertilizer. We don't have much boron or calcium in our soils so that should be a great boost for those 2 nutrients.

I have purchased borax for the patch more than a few times and been to chicken to use it. I bought some this year too, i may Once again give it to my wife to use it for a laundry additive! LOL

It's one of the easier ones to wash out of the soil. It's only 10-12% actual boron. But admittedly I've never spread an entire box of it. I spread about a cup or two over 200 sq ft though and not as evenly as I had hoped so I too wonder if it will be toxic.
